Christmas night out?

The original Sew-and-Sews. Liz (seated) and Vera (standing)We are a self-help sewing group based at Trinity House, Laygate, South Shields, Tyne and Wear. We meet every other Thursday from 7pm to 9pm.

We are varied in ages and experience, from beginners and up over. Between the main two protagonists,Vera and Liz, there are many years of experience. Although the club is still in its infancy we have quite a few members.
The charge for the meetings is £1.50 with a cup of tea or coffee thrown in (not literally). We also have a small raffle to raise funds for the club.

We intend to organise outings to various places of sewing interest, if there is sufficient response. Having attended many shows ourselves we can assure you they are worth a visit.

In the near future we hope to add to our collection of sewing machines with an overlocker, electronic sewing machine and an embroidery machine.

Earlier this year Liz and Vera attended a sewing holiday in Malton, North Yorkshire, which was organised by Janet Spink of Creative Holidaze Tel 01508 537143.
The holiday was fun as well as very informative, one week of having meals prepared for you and talking to like-minded people was bliss. There is another holiday in November to the same place, where we hope to gain some more ideas and experience.
Janet has also started distance learning courses for Evolve overlocker owners which will be very useful. She has also written instruction books on overlockers which are very informative.

We would like to do a fund raising night from time to time e.g. auction of material or that gadget that you bought that you thought was useful but did not like but someone else might , dressmaking patterns (unused) etc.

We are having a Christmas night out in December. Members are welcome to bring a guest.
